Egmont Press will publish 9/11 Boy, a novel about friendship, family, and racial tension, from debut children's author Catherine Bruton.
Ali Dougal, Commissioning Editor at Egmont Press, secured World English Language rights for two books, from Caroline Montgomery of Rupert Crew Ltd. 'We are extremely excited about 9/11 Boy. Ben's story is funny, moving and shocking, with one of the most compelling, authentic voices I have ever come across, beautifully balancing meaty issues with humour and ingenious characterisation. The book has tremendous prize potential, strong crossover appeal, and we're certain that it will generate a lot of discussion.'
Leah Thaxton, Senior Publisher, said, 'This gorgeous novel reminded me of Millions, which I've always adored. It's a privilege to be publishing this book.'
Hardback publication of 9/11 Boy is planned for May 2011 with a paperback edition to follow in January 2012.
Catherine Bruton is a Oxford graduate, a teacher, and a respected journalist for The Times, the Guardian and various websites. She lives with her husband and son in London. This is her first children's book.
