Apple changes mind on censoring graphic novels

Ulysses 'seen'Apple has reversed its decision to censor comic book versions of The Importance Of Being Ernest and Ulysses for the iPad.

The technology giant previously requested "no nudity" edits of Rob Berry and Josh Levitas's Ulysses Seen, and refused to publish sexually explicit imagery in the Oscar Wilde adaptation.

However, Apple has since reviewed its policy and requested uncut editions from the creators behind both books, The Big Money reports.

"We made a mistake. When the art panel edits of the app and the graphic novel adaptation of Oscar Wilde's Importance Of Being Earnest app were brought to our attention, we offered the developers the opportunity to resubmit their original drawings and update their apps," said Apple spokesperson Trudy Mille.

The move follows widespread coverage of the censorship decision by publications such as The New York Times and Wired.

Ulysses Seen and The Importance Of Being Ernest are available to download via the App Store
